Children’s creativity centre-stage!

This is one I have made with my own kids and they just love it! It is the simplest idea and costs absolutely nothing, in fact it recycles an old cardboard box so you are doing your bit for the environment, your pocket and your kids!

All you need is a cardboard box of about 12 inches high or more, a pair of scissors and some colouring materials.

Place the box on its side and open the folds on one side. If the box is rectangular-shaped, place on the long side. Draw the shape of a curtain on the left and right side flaps. Draw some semi-circles for the curtain trim across the top flap. Colour in the curtains and then cut around the outline with scissors. Hey presto! You are done! You can embellish somewhat by adding colour to the roof and flooring areas, maybe even draw in the heads of an audience!

During this play-session we were re-enacting ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ with an improvised set from the doll’s house!

Don’t let the simplicity of this art project fool you, it has a huge amount to offer children both in terms of creating the actual stage but also in hours of imaginative play.
