Every week our chosen professional artist, Lisa Keegan, will write a feature on working with and encouraging creativity in young children. Lisa has three young children of her own and works as a professional artist so she is well qualified in this area!
From the time that they can hold a crayon, children love to express themselves through art. Encouraging this expression is beneficial to children in many ways, not least of all that it provides them with a creative outlet for their experiences and emotions, a way of interpreting the world around them.
Not only is art good for a child’s imagination and creative side, it is also something you can do with them and it is a great holiday or rainy day activity. Our “arts & crafts” section will have regular feature articles as well as arts and crafts ideas to do with kids of all ages. You can also check out our ‘parties’ section for activities to occupy larger groups.
Please feel free to comment on any of our articles as this website will be a place to share information and ideas. You can view Lisa’s work or contact her directly via her website at www.lisakeegan.com or post comments on any of her articles to which she will respond.
